Dumex is owned by International Nutrition Company (INC.), Copenhagen, Denmark, a subsidiary of the East Asiatic Company Limited (EAC) a Danish international group of businesses with its offices in Singapore. Dumex manufacturing for Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and “Indochina” is concentrated in Malaysia, but its products are also marketed in some Middle Eastern countries, Africa, Europe and possibly the Caribbean.
Dumex claims it complies with local country codes on the marketing of infant formula or with the International Code where no country code exists. But a Dumex in-house newsletter from 1998 revealed that Dumex company reps visit hospitals in Vietnam outside working hours to evade queries by hospital authorities, yet build friendly relations with doctors and nurses so as to increase prescription rates.
Dumex sponsored a festival in a Baby-Friendly hospital in Vietnam and shows its videos at medical seminars to increase brand and corporate recognition among health professionals. |
