Artist:Savage Garden
Song:Santa Monica
In Santa Monica, in the wintertime,
The lazy streets so undemanding
I walk into the crowd
In Santa Monica, you get your coffee from
The coolest places on the promenade
Where people dress just so
Beauty so unavoidable, everywhere you turn
It's there.
I sit and wonder what am I doing here?
But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be.
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?
In Santa Monica, all the people got modern names
Like Jake or Mandy
And modern bodies too
In Santa Monica, on the boulevard,
You'll have to dodge those in-line skaters
Or they'll knock you down
I never felt so lonely,
Never felt so out of place
I never wanted something more than this
But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
On the telephone line, I am any height
I am any age I want to be
I could be a caped crusader, or space invader
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?
Or would you?
But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
On the telephone line, I am any height
I am any age I want to be
I could be a caped crusader, or space invader
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?
Savage Garden is a music group, but perhaps it's past tense, because the two guys from Australia had departed many years ago. The one-time front man still released his single or latest album , and the other guy tried his hand on business or something else. I couldn't say for sure, because I was not their fun. The first time I heard about their music and their strange band name could be traced back to the year 2004. Their song "The best thing" left me a deep impression ,truly, madly and deeply, just like I got chemistry in my body. Later on I tried their other songs, which seemed to be all big hits, but I just had no appetite, and put their music on the back burner ,diverting my attention to Bon Jovi and eventually finding Bon Jovi was my life!
Dating back to the August this year when I surfed the internet,I accidentally came cross this song. Immediately, I liked this song like a man possessed, and listened to it time and time again.
This was a good song, particularly in winter. The dark cold winter often left us irritable and depressed. Sometimes we became restless. But this song, in a sense, tamed our anxieties, delivered us an inner peace. I found the right warmth and brightness in this song, although this feeling wasn't everlasting ...
And I always believe winter is the warmest season of the year. Because of the unbearable coldness, we never felt that we could so easily have a sense of warm.
My friends, I hope all of you will feel warm in this freezing winter. |
